When you create a new user account on Windows 10 and 11, you are asked to set up a password and a secondary authentication method, such as a PIN, facial recognition, or fingerprint. This protects your user account from unauthorized access. However, there might be situations where you need a password-less user account, such as for a guest account or a public computer. In this guide, we’ll show you how you can create a new user account without a password on Windows 10 and 11. Let’s get started.

Note: You can only create a local account without a password. Additionally, a password-less account is not secure and can be accessed by anyone. So, be careful and only create it if absolutely necessary.

Create a User Account Without Password

On Windows 11:

Start by opening Settings (you can press Windows key + I). In Settings, go to the Accounts > Other Users page and click the Add Account.

If your computer has internet, Windows 11 asks you to create an online account. We don’t want that. So, click I don’t have this person’s sign-in information and then on Add a user without Microsoft account options.

In the next screen, type the username in the Who’s going to use this PC? (first field), leave the password fields empty, and press Next.

That’s it. You’ve created a user account without a password on Windows 11.

On Windows 10:

Open the Run dialog by pressing Windows key + R. Type netplwiz in the dialog box and click OK.

Under the Users tab, click Add.

When prompted for the user’s email address, click on Sign in without a Microsoft account option at the bottom.

Click on the Local Account button at the bottom.

Type the username in the Username field, leave all the remaining fields empty, and click Next.

That’s it. You have created a password-less account. Since there is no password, setting up security questions is not required. Click Finish to end the procedure.

Wrapping Up

And there you have it! It’s that simple. Once the password-less account has been created, you can log into it from the login screen, just click the Log In button.

Since the user account is not protected with a password, please be careful when sharing your device with other users. If you are just looking for ease of use, you don’t have to remove the password. You can set up a PIN and fingerprint on on Windows 10 and 11 after setting up the password.

Alternatively, you can get the best of both worlds by enabling auto login.
