How to Disable News Feed on Windows 11 Widgets Board

For whatever reason, Microsoft loves to add a news feed to everything and everywhere. The newly introduced Widgets board is nothing different. The moment you mouse over or click on the widget button on the taskbar, you will see a huge wall of news feed front and center. If you don’t want it, you can now disable or hide the news feed from the widgets board on Windows 11. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to do that exactly in simple steps. Let’s get started.

Note: To follow the steps below, your Windows 11 build should be 22635.2841 or higher. To check it, press ‘Windows key + R,’ type ‘winver’ in the blank field, and press ‘Enter.’ The build number will be visible in the About Windows window.

Hide or Disable News Feed on Widgets Board

First, click on the widgets button on the taskbar or press Windows key + W to open the Widgets board. Click on the Settings icon (looks like a gear) on the top right corner of the widgets board.

In the Widgets Settings page, find and select the Show or Hide Feeds option, then toggle the Microsoft Start switch to the OFF position.

That’s it. From now on, you will no longer see the news feed on widgets board.

Alternative Method Using Vivetool

If the option to disable the widgets board news feed is not available, you can use the Vivetool as an alternate method. For those who don’t know, Vivetool is an open-source and free application that lets you enable and disable Windows features via the command line.

First, go to the Vivetool’s GitHub page and click on the ViVeTool-v0.3.3.zip link under the Assets section to download the tool.

Note: If you find a newer version than v0.3.3 on the GitHub page, download that instead.

After downloading, find the downloaded zip file in your downloads folder, right-click on it, select Extract All, and then click Extract to extract the zip file to a new folder.

After extracting, open the extracted folder, right-click inside the folder, and select Open in Terminal.

Once the terminal opens, copy & paste the below command and press Enter.

vivetool.exe /enable /id:42880174,44281626,45393399

Now, open the Widgets board with Windows key + W, click on the Settings icon, click on Show or Hide Feeds, and then turn off the Microsoft Start toggle. This will hide the news feed.

And there you have it. It’s that simple to get rid of the news feed on your Windows 11 Widgets board.
