The widgets board in Windows 11 shows a lot of new widgets such as the weather, CPU & GPU metrics, photos, timer, and more. Of all the default widgets, if there is one thing most users want to remove, it is the News Feed. For whatever reason, Microsoft loves adding a news feed to everything. While it might useful for a small number of users, it is nothing more than a distraction and adds clutter to the widgets board. If you don’t want it, you can now remove the News Feed in the widgets board on Windows 11. In this tutorial, I will show two methods to disable News Feed in widgets on Windows 11. Let’s get started.
Before You Start
- You should be running Windows 11 build 22635.2841 or higher. If you don’t know your current build number, follow this guide to learn how to find out the Windows 11 version and build number.
Hide or Disable News Feed on Widgets Board in Windows 11
- Press “Windows key + W” to open the widgets board.
- Click the “Settings” (gear) icon on the top right corner.
- Click the “Show or hide feeds” option.
- Turn OFF the “Feeds” toggle.
- With that, the News Feed is hidden/disabled on the widgets board.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
First, open the Widgets board. To do that, either press the “Windows key + W” shortcut or click the weather widget on the taskbar.
Once it opens, click the “Settings” icon (looks like a gear icon) and then click the “Show or hide feeds” option.
Next, turn OFF the “Feeds” toggle, and the News Feed is hidden on the widgets board. It’s that simple.
Alternative Method Using ViVeTool
]If you are using older builds of Windows 11 or if you are not seeing the option to disable the new feed, you can use ViVeTool to enable the option in the widget board settings. ViVeTool is a free and open-source application that lets you enable or disable hidden features in Windows 11. Here’s how to do it.
First, follow this guide to download and extract ViVeTool in Windows 11.
Once done, right-click the Start button and select the “Terminal (Admin)” option.
In the terminal window, Navigate to the ViVeTool folder using the below command.
cd "path\vivetool\folder"
Next, copy & paste the below command and press Enter. This command enables the option to disable the news feed in the widgets board.
vivetool.exe /enable /id:42880174,44281626,45393399
Next, close the terminal window and restart your computer. After restarting, follow the steps in the first section to hide the news feed.
Wrapping Up — Removing News Feed from Widgets Board in Windows 11
As you can see, thanks to the built-in options, you can easily hide or remove the news feed on the widgets board and make it look clean. If needed, you can add more useful widgets like the CPU & GPU usage graphs, photos, etc. Of course, you can always remove the widgets you don’t need. In fact, you even remove the weather widget from your taskbar.
Keep in mind that if you don’t see the “Feeds” toggle, you need to use ViVeTool to first enable it and then follow the steps.
