Bluetooth devices have become more common these days. The best thing is, using a Bluetooth device means you don’t have to deal with wires and connectors. From connecting wireless headphones to syncing peripherals like keyboards and mice, Bluetooth enables convenient and cable-free connectivity. However, there’s nothing more frustrating than having your Bluetooth device run out of battery right when you need it the most.

The good thing is, you don’t need to use a third-party tool to monitor Bluetooth battery level. Windows 11 lets you check the battery level of any connected Bluetooth device using the Settings app and Quick Settings panel.

The easiest way to check Bluetooth battery level is via the Windows 11 Quick Settings panel. Here’s how:

Step 1: Open the Quick Settings panel on Windows 11. You can click on the Network or Volume icon on the taskbar or press the Windows key + A keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: Click/tap on the Manage Bluetooth devices icon (right arrow icon) next to the Bluetooth icon in the Quick Settings panel. This will show all the Bluetooth devices connected to your Windows 11 device.

Step 3: The battery level of a Bluetooth device appears right next to its name in the Quick Settings panel.

Check the Bluetooth battery level in Windows 11 Settings app

The Windows 11 Settings app shows the battery level of any Bluetooth device connected to the system. Here’s how to check it.

Step 1: Launch the Settings window. You can use the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut or search for Settings in the Start menu.

Step 2: Once the Windows 11 settings window opens, navigate to the “Bluetooth & devices” tab on the sidebar. Next, click on the “Devices” option.

Step 3: Once you are on this page, the battery level appears right next to the Bluetooth device name.

Add Bluetooth battery level indicator to the taskbar

If you want to show the Bluetooth battery level on the taskbar, you have to use a third-party application called Bluetooth Battery Monitor. The app not only shows the battery level of any Bluetooth device but also lets you manage all the Bluetooth devices connected to your system. It is a paid application ($4.99) worth every penny. Here’s how to use it.

First, download the Bluetooth Battery Monitor from the official website (link below) and install it.

After installing the application, it should open automatically. If not, open it from the Start menu or by double-clicking on the desktop icon. At launch, the application will ask you to choose how the battery level indicator appears on the taskbar. Choose the style of your choice and press the “Ok” button. In my case, I chose the default style.

That’s it. You should now see the Bluetooth battery level on your taskbar. Sometimes, the indicator might be hidden. To show the hidden taskbar icon, click on the “Show hidden icons” icon (up arrow) and move the battery level indicator icon next to the other icons on the taskbar.

If you have multiple Bluetooth devices, the application shows the device with the lowest battery level. Clicking on the indicatory icon will show the battery levels of all the Bluetooth devices.

To show the battery level of a specific Bluetooth device, click on the indicator icon on the taskbar and rearrange the devices so that the preferred Bluetooth device is at the top.

Next, right-click on the Bluetooth device indicator and choose the Settings option. Next, select the “The device at the top in the main window” option.

If you cannot see the Bluetooth battery level of a specific Bluetooth device, then your Bluetooth device isn’t reporting the battery level to Windows. In that case, Windows cannot show the battery level.

Sometimes, you might have to use third-party applications supplied by the device manufacturer to check the battery level. For example, I have to use the Logitech app to check the battery level of the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
