How to Restart PC with Keyboard Shortcut

While most of us are familiar with the traditional way of clicking through the Start menu to find the restart option, you can do it much faster with your keyboard. In this tutorial, we will show you multiple methods to restart your Windows PC using a keyboard shortcut. It covers the straightforward to more advanced options to use when your system is non-responsive. Let’s get started.

1. Use Alt + F4 to Restart

The easiest shortcut key to restart a computer for a long time is the Alt + F4. Here’s how to use it.

1. First, close all open windows until you see the Desktop. If you don’t close open windows, Alt + F4 attempts to close the currently active window.

2. On the desktop press Alt + F4, press the Down arrow immediately, and press Enter.

Note: You should press the U and R keys sequentially, not simultaneously.
