If you’d like to try out the new version as soon as possible, you can upgrade to Windows 11 v23H2 right away. This tutorial will show you two ways to upgrade to v23H2. Let’s get started.

Note: Before proceeding, ensure your PC meets the minimum requirements to install Windows 11.

Upgrade to Windows 11 v23H2 Using Settings

Start by pressing the Windows key + I to open the Settings app. In settings, navigate to Windows Update in the sidebar and click Check for Updates. If the v23H2 update is available, it will show up under the available updates list. Click the Download & Install button.

Wait for the upgrade to be downloaded and installed. Depending on your internet speed, it will take time. Once done, click on the Restart Now button. If you’re not ready to restart, you can close Settings and restart later. Remember, the update only completes with a restart.

Can’t Find the Windows 11 v23H2 Update in Settings

Microsoft rolls out updates gradually, so it might not show up immediately for everyone. If you don’t see the update in Settings, you can wait, or you can manually upgrade using the ISO file method shown below.

Upgrade to Windows 11 v23H2 Using ISO File

If the upgrade is not shown in Settings and you can’t wait to install Windows 11 v23H2, you can download the ISO and manually install the upgrade without data loss. Here’s how.

First, download the Windows 11 ISO. Once the download is complete, open File Explorer (by pressing Windows key + E), locate the ISO file, and double-click on it. This action will mount the ISO file as a virtual DVD drive.

Then, in File Explorer, select This PC from the sidebar, and double-click on the DVD Drive to open the ISO file.

In the DVD Drive directory, find and double-click on the setup.exe file. Click Yes when you see the UAC prompt.

Click Next in the Install Windows 11 screen.

Click Accept in the Notices and License Terms screen.

By default, Windows 11 upgrade keeps both personal files and apps. That means, the upgrade will not touch your personal files or installed application and will simply upgrade the current Windows 11 version to 23H2. Click the Install button.

Note: If you want to uninstall apps without deleting personal files or start afresh, click on the “Change what to keep” link and select “Keep personal files only” or “Nothing” respectively.

Windows 11 v23H2 starts installing. The entire process will take time to complete and in the process, your system will restart multiple times. Sit back and wait.

Once done, your system will restart one final time and take you to the login screen. Type your password/pin and press Enter to log in.

And there you have it, you’ve successfully upgraded to Windows 11 v23H2.
