HP Smart is an official app from HP that lets you print, scan, and share documents to and from your HP printer with just a few clicks. The HP Smart app is automatically installed if you have a supported HP printer or scanner. According to some users, the app is also being automatically installed after updating to Windows 11, even for those who don’t use an HP printer. This can be frustrating, especially if you don’t own an HP printer or prefer not to use the app. In this guide, we’ll show you a straightforward way to uninstall the HP Smart app from your Windows 11 PC. Let’s get started.
Uninstall the HP Smart App on Windows
Start by pressing the Windows key + I to open the Settings app. Once the Settings window opens, click on Apps on the sidebar and then click on the Installed Apps option.
On the Installed Apps page, scroll down until you find the HP Smart app in the list. Next, click on the More Options (…) icon and choose Uninstall. When prompted for confirmation, click the Uninstall button.
Note: If you can’t find the app, type the app name in the search bar at the top to filter it out.
As soon as you click the uninstall button, the HP Smart app will be uninstalled immediately. Finally, close the Settings app and reboot the computer to finish the procedure.
Command to Uninstall HP Smart App
If you are looking for an alternative method, you can use the Windows Terminal to remove the app. To do that, right-click on the Windows logo on the taskbar and choose Terminal (Admin).
In the terminal window, ensure the PowerShell tab is active, copy & paste the below command into it, and press Enter.
Get-AppxPackage *HPPrinterControl* | Remove-AppxPackage
