Windows 11 has a neat little feature that adds a border to active windows. Typically, your Windows accent color will be the border color. One of the main advantages of the window border is that it makes it easy to differentiate the active window from other windows. As you can guess, the border color is handy for differentiating between windows when the contrast between them is not easily distinguishable. Put simply; a window border is a handy feature.

That being said, not everyone likes the window borders. There are many reasons for this, like not wanting the border color or the border itself. This is especially true if you don’t like the current active accent color. In that case, you can quickly turn off the window border color. Of course, when needed, you can turn on the window border color.

So, without further ado, let me show you how to turn on or turn off window borders in Windows 11.

How to turn off window border color in Windows 11

You can turn off the window border color in Windows 11 from the Personalization section in the Settings app. Here is where to find and change the option.

  1. Open Windows 11 Settings app.
  2. Click on the “Personalization” option on the sidebar.
  3. Press the “Colors” option on the main panel.
  4. Turn off the “Show accent color on title bars and windows borders” option.
  5. Close the settings.
  6. With that, the window border color is turned off.

The option to turn off Windows 11 borders is available in the Settings app. So, press the “Start key + I” keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app. In the Settings app, go to the “Personalization > Colors” page. Next, scroll down and turn off the “Show accent color on title bars and windows borders” option.

As soon as you turn off the option, you will no longer see the window borders. You can now close the Settings app.

How to turn on window border color in Windows 11

To turn on the window border in Windows 11, follow the below steps.

  1. Use the “Start key + I” shortcut to open Settings.
  2. Select the “Personalization” tab on the sidebar.
  3. Click on the “Colors” option in the right panel.
  4. Turn on the “Show accent color on title bars and windows borders” option.
  5. Close Windows 11 Settings app.
  6. With that, the window border color is turned on fully.

The first thing to do is open the Windows 11 Settings app. You can do that from the Start menu or by pressing the “Windows key + I” shortcut. In the settings app, go to the “Personalization > Colors” page and turn on the “Show accent color on title bars and windows borders” option.

Windows 11 will show a border around the active window as soon as you turn on the option. By default, Windows 11 show the accent color as the border color.
