How to Disable Show More Options on Windows 11

On Windows 11, Microsoft slimmed down the right-click context menu and hid several useful options behind the Show More Options option. If you don’t like it, you can disable Show More Options and restore the full right-click menu, just like in the old versions. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to do that exactly in simple steps. Let’s get started.

Note: To remove the show more options, you need to modify the registry. Before doing that, create a backup. It helps you restore the registry if you make a mistake.

Steps to Disable Show More Options on Windows 11

Start by pressing the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Once it opens, enter regedit in the Run dialog’s blank field and click OK to open the Registry Editor.

In the Registry window, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID folder. Right-click on the CLSID folder and choose New > Key.

right-click on the folder and select new and then key

Set the folder name as {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2} (including the curly brackets).

Now, Right-click on the {86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2} folder and choose New > Key.

Set the folder name as InprocServer32.

Next, ensure the InprocServer32 folder is selected in the left sidebar. On the right panel, you will see a value with the name Default. Double-click on the value or select the value and choose Edit > Modify.

In the Edit Value window, you don’t need to change anything. Simply click OK.

Finally, close all windows and restart your computer. After restarting, the Show More Options menu is disabled. To verify, right-click on your desktop after restarting and you will not see the Show More Options option.

Alternate Method: Using Windows Terminal

If you don’t modify the registry manually, you can do the same thing via the terminal. To start off, press Windows key + X and choose Terminal (Admin) from the power user menu. In the terminal window, run the following command.

reg add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve

After executing the command, close the terminal window and restart your computer. Once restarted, right-click on your desktop to verify. You will no longer see the Show More Options option.

And there you have it! It’s that simple. You can follow either of the methods and the end result is the same.
