Did you know you can change or remove the profile icon in your Chrome browser? Let’s learn how.
Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers used by billions of people to browse the internet. One of the best features of it is the ability to create multiple profiles that can run independently of each other. For each profile, you can manually select a profile name and icon to make it easy to recognize and open or switch. If you are syncing your Chrome browser with your Google account, then your Google account’s name and profile icon will be used as the default Chrome profile name and icon.
If you don’t like the current profile icon, you can change (remove) it easily. For example, maybe you don’t want your browser to use your Google account profile icon. Whatever your specific reason is, you can easily change the profile icon in the Google Chrome browser, if you want. Here’s how:
Important note: In newer versions of Chrome, you can no longer remove the profile icon. You can only change it.

- Click the profile icon on the top right corner.
- Select the “Customize Profile” option.
- Select an icon of your choice under “Pick and avatar“.
- With that, you’ve changed the profile icon in Google Chrome.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
Open the Google Chrome browser if it is not already opened. You can do that by searching for “Google Chrome” in the Start menu.

Once it opens, click the profile icon on the top right corner of the Chrome window.
Next, select the “Customize Profile” option from the profile flyout menu. This option lets you customize your profile’s name, color scheme, and icon.

The above action opens a new tab. Here, scroll down to the “Pick an avatar” section and select a profile icon of your choice.

That is all. As soon as you select the icon, it is applied as the new profile icon in the Chrome browser. You can see it next to the address bar and in the taskbar.
