Along with applications, games, and other files, you can also pin a folder to the Start menu for quick and easy access. Here’s how.
Windows Start menu is like a swiss-army knife, it can do a lot of things. Including searching for files or applications, pinning most used applications, listing installed applications, grouping and organizing apps, etc. If you are a pro in using the Start menu, pinning the most used or frequent folders to it can help you access them quickly and efficiently. Though not obvious at first glance, it is quite easy to pin folders to start. Let me show you how.
Steps to Pin Folder to Start Menu
You cannot drag and drop a folder or shortcut into the Start menu. To pin a folder to the Start menu, you have to use the “Pin to Start” option in the right-click context menu.
These the steps you should follow to pin a folder to the Start menu.
- Open the File Explorer.
- Find the folder you want to pin to the Start menu.
- Right-click on the folder.
- Select the “Pin to Start” option.
- As soon as you select the option, the folder will be pinned to the Start screen. You can see it on the right panel.
To unpin the folder, right-click on the pinned folder and select “Unpin from start”. This will remove the folder from the Start menu.
Customize Pinned Start Menu Folder
You can resize the pinned folder in the Start menu. To do that, right-click on the pinned folder and select “Resize”. Select one of the available options to resize the pinned folder tile.
If you’ve pinned multiple folders, you can group them in a single tile or folder. Grouping helps you better organize the pinned folders and reduce clutter.
To group the pinned folders, drag and drop one folder on to another folder. This will create a group folder.
Now, drag and drop other folders on to the newly created group folder.
You can name the grouped folder. To do that, open the grouped folder and enter a name in the top field.
The name will appear on the grouped folder tile.
