One of the best things about Microsoft Edge is that you can install extensions to add and/or improve its functionality. While the ability to install extensions is useful, there might be situations where you need to remove an extension from your Edge browser. For example, an extension is slowing down the browser, maybe an application (especially antivirus software) installed an extension without your permission, you no longer use a specific extension, you found out that a specific extension is corrupted or infected with malware, etc.
Whatever the reason, if you don’t want an extension, Microsoft Edge makes it just as easy to remove it. In this tutorial, I will show you how to remove unwanted extensions from the Edge browser. Let’s get started.
Steps To Remove an Extension in Microsoft Edge
- Press the “Start” button.
- Search and open “Microsoft Edge“.
- Click the three dots icon on the top right corner.
- Select the “Extensions” option.
- Click the three dots icon next to the extension you want to remove.
- Select the “Remove from Microsoft Edge” option.
- Click the “Remove” button.
- Do the same for all the extensions you want to remove.
- With that, you’ve removed an extension from your Edge browser.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
Open the Microsoft Edge browser by searching for it in the Start menu. Alternatively, you can also open it by clicking the Edge icon on the taskbar, if it is pinned.
Once the Edge browser, click the three dots icon on the top right corner and select the “Extensions” option. This action opens the Extensions menu.
Here, find the extension you want to remove, click the three dots icon next to it, and select the “Remove from Microsoft Edge” option.
The above action shows a confirmation prompt, click the “Remove” button.
That’s it. The Edge extension is instantly removed. If you have more extensions to remove, follow the same steps.
