This is especially true if you use many applications at once or run resource-intensive applications such as Photoshop, Premiere, or a code editor with a complex build. In situations like this, the ability to clear the RAM and automatically reduce RAM usage when it’s high is very useful. That is where the Microsoft PC Manager comes into play. It is an official Windows optimization utility by Microsoft.

Before You Start

Steps to Reduce RAM Usage Using Microsoft PC Manager
- Open the Start menu.
- Search for “PC Manager” and click “Open”.
- Click the “Boost” to clear RAM and boost PC performance.
- Click the “Settings” option on the left sidebar.
- Turn ON the “Smart boost settings” toggle.
- Turn ON the “Start Microsoft PC Manager Automatically” toggle.
- With that, PC Manager will automatically reduce RAM usage when it nears full.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
First, we must open the Microsoft PC Manager. To do that, click the “Start” button on your taskbar to open the Start menu. Next, search for “PC Manager“, and click the result or “Open” option.

Once the PC Manager tool opens, ensure you are in the “Home” tab, then click the “Boost” option. This will immediately clear the RAM and delete temporary files to boost your PC’s performance.

After that, go to the “Settings” tab on the sidebar. Next, turn ON the following toggles:
- Smart boost settings: Enabling this toggle makes PC Manager automatically boost your PC when RAM usage is high.
- Start Microsoft PC Manager automatically when I sign in to Windows: This ensures that the PC Manager is running in the background to reduce RAM usage when needed.
