Learn how to remap the default “Windows key + C” shortcut to open the Start menu search instead of the new Copilot app in Windows 11.
With the current AI (Artificial Intelligence) buzz, Microsoft has pre-installed a new AI app called Copilot in Windows 11. This app makes it easy to have all your AI conversions in one place and provides access to various features like AI image creation. As you’d expect, to make it easy to open, Microsoft modified the default “Windows key + C” shortcut to now open the Copilot app. However, if you are not using the Copilot app and want quick access to the good old Start menu search, you can change the shortcut to open Windows search (Start menu search) again.
In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to change the “Windows key + C” shortcut to open the Start menu search instead of the Copilot app. Let’s get started.
Change “Windows key + C” to Open Search Instead of the Copilot App
- Press “Windows key + I” to open Settings.
- Go to the “Personalization” tab.
- Click the “Text input” option.
- Select “Search” from the “Customize Copilot key on keyboard” dropdown menu.
- With that, pressing the “Windows key + C” opens Search.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
The good thing is, you can remap the shortcut directly from the Settings app. You don’t have to use any third-party app.
