Want to know the version and build number of Windows 11 on your computer? It’s pretty easy to find using the Settings app and Run dialog. Here’s how.
Microsoft releases at least one new version of Windows 11 with several new features and improvements. Every time you install a cumulative Windows Update, the build number will be bumped up. When you install a major Windows 11 upgrade, the version number is updated, for example, 25H2 and 26H1. Depending on which version and build you are using, certain features and improvements may or may not be available.
Generally, most Windows 11 users never need to know about the version or build number. You can ignore them. However, from time to time, Microsoft adds or releases features that are only available to some versions or builds of Windows 11. If you are using a build or version lower than what Microsoft recommends, the feature might not be available to you.
As such, it is important to know the version and build of Windows 11 you are using. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to do it using two methods, the run command and the Settings app. Let’s get started.

After opening the winver tool, you will see the Windows 11 version and build number on the second line, i.e., under “Microsoft Windows”. See the image below for reference.
