Learn how to export your saved passwords from Microsoft Edge so you can move them to a password manager or keep an offline backup.
Just like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge also has a built-in password manager, and it is pretty good too. It lets you sync your passwords with your other drives and access them securely when needed. If you are using Edge’s built-in password manager and want to switch to a dedicated password manager or keep an offline backup, you can easily export all your saved passwords with just a few clicks. All you have to do is open the Microsoft Password Manager in Edge and click the Export option. It’s that simple.
In this quick and easy guide, I will show you the steps to export saved passwords in Microsoft Edge. Let’s get started.

Before You Start
- Microsoft Edge requires your account password/PIN to export saved passwords.
- Edge exports saved passwords in plain text. This means anyone with access to your PC can open the exported file and view all your passwords. I recommend storing the file in a safe, secure location. If you’re moving to a dedicated password manager, be sure to delete the exported file securely after importing your passwords.
