How To Enable Quick Machine Recovery in Windows 11

Learn what the new Quick Machine Recovery feature in Windows 11 is and how to enable it to diagnose and fix critical boot failures.

Have you ever had an issue where your system keeps rebooting and won’t start properly? This problem is often called boot looping, and it can occur for a variety of reasons, such as buggy updates, corrupted files, system misconfigurations, or even certain programs that hook deeply into Windows, like anti-cheat tools that often install automatically with games. You might even remember the CrowdStrike incident, which affected millions of Windows devices and caused widespread outage.

Generally, in those cases, you’d have to manually install update patches, uninstall the buggy updates, or follow specific instructions by Microsoft. While it isn’t complicated, it is time-consuming and confusing at times.

So, to make things easier, Microsoft introduced a new feature called Quick Machine Recovery. Once enabled, it automatically detects when your system repeatedly fails to boot, connects to Microsoft’s cloud-based diagnostics service, and applies available fixes to resolve the issue. To put it simply, this is a handy feature that every Windows 11 user should enable.

In this quick and easy guide, I will show you the steps to enable Quick Machine Recovery in Windows 11. Let’s get started.

Optionally, you can also turn ON the “Continue searching if a solution isn’t found” toggle. This allows your device to periodically connect to Microsoft cloud-based diagnostics for a possible fix/solution.

Note: If you are enabling this option, change the “Restart every” option to “72 hours” instead of the default “180 minutes“. That way, your machine won’t restart frequently.
