When using Xbox chat options, you can easily enable or disable the Noise Suppression feature via the Xbox app or Game Bar. Here’s how.
Most don’t know this, but the Xbox party chat has a neat feature called Noise Suppression, which, when enabled, helps you automatically remove or suppress background noise, noise from keyboard and clicks, breathing noise, etc. This not only makes what you say clearer to others but will also help you if others in your group enable this feature.
In this quick guide, I will show you two methods to turn the Noise Suppression feature on or off in Xbox chat. Let’s get started.
Enable or Disable Noise Suppression in the Xbox App
- Press the “Windows key” on your keyboard.
- Search for and open “Xbox“.
- Click your gamertag in the top left corner.
- Select the “Settings” option.
- Go to the “Audio” tab on the sidebar.
- Check or uncheck the “Enable Noise Suppression” checkbox to turn Noise Suppression on or off.

Enable or Disable Noise Suppression in Game Bar
- Press “Windows key + G” to open Game Bar.
- Click the “Start a party” icon in the “Xbox Social” widget.
- Click the “Settings” icon in the “Xbox Party” widget.
- Toggle ON or OFF the “Noise Suppression” option to enable or disable Noise Suppression in Xbox chat.
Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
First, we need to open the Game Bar. You can do that by pressing the “Windows key + G“. After it opens, click the “Start a party” icon (looks like a headset) in the “Xbox Social” widget.
Important note: If you don’t see the “Xbox Social” widget, click the “Widget Menu” icon (3×3 grid of dots) on the top bar and select the “Xbox Social” option. This displays the widget.

The above action opens the “Xbox Part” widget. In it, click the “Settings” icon.

Now, enable the noise suppression feature by turning ON the “Noise Suppression” toggle. On the other hand, if you want to disable the feature, turn OFF the “Noise Suppression” toggle.
