Learn how to enable or disable the new automatic scroll with pressure on the touchpad in Windows 11 using the Settings app.
Microsoft added a new gesture-based feature to all supported precision touchpads that allows you to automatically scroll by applying pressure to the touchpad with your fingers. As most of you already know, when using a mouse, you can scroll vertically or horizontally by middle clicking on a page and moving your mouse up & down or left & right. This new automatic scroll with pressure on the touchpad feature is pretty similar. While the page or window is scrolling, pressing on the touchpad and keeping your finger stationary will continue the scroll.
In this quick Windows how-to guide, let me show you how to enable or disable the automatic scroll with pressure on the touchpad feature in Windows 11. Let’s get started.
Enable Automatic Scroll With Pressure on Touchpad
- Right-click the Windows icon on the taskbar.
- Select the “Settings” option.
- Go to the “Bluetooth & devices” > “Touchpad” page.
- Click and expand the “Scroll & zoom” section.
- Select the “Automatic scrolling with pressure” checkbox.
- With that, you’ve enabled automatic scrolling with pressure on the touchpad.
Important note: If you are not seeing the “Automatic scrolling with pressure” checkbox, then this option is not available for your laptop. Make sure your laptop has a precision touchpad that supports pressure sensitivity and that you are running the latest build of Windows 11.
Disable Automatic Scroll With Pressure on Touchpad
- Press “Windows key + I” to open the Settings.
- Go to the “Bluetooth & devices” > “Touchpad” page.
- Expand the “Scroll & zoom” section.
- Uncheck the “Automatic scrolling with pressure” checkbox.
- With that, you’ve disabled automatic scrolling with pressure on the touchpad.
