Even though other browsers like Edge and Firefox are trying their best, they are nowhere near the market share of the Google Chrome browser.

Download Chrome portable for Windows

Follow the below steps to download Chrome portable for Windows and install it on a USB drive.

Plug in the USB drive.
Download portable Google Chrome from here.
Double-click on the downloaded exe file.
Select “English” from the dropdown menu.
Click “Ok.”
Press “Next.”
Click “I Agree.”
Press the “Browse” button.
Select your USB drive and click “Ok.”
Click the “Install” button.
Uncheck the “Run Google Chrome Portable” option.
Click “Finish.”
With that, you have downloaded portable Google Chrome.
Open the GoogleChromePortable folder on the USB drive.
Double-click on the exe file to open Chrome.

Detailed steps:

First, plug in the USB drive. Next, go to portableapps.com and download the portable Google Chrome version.

After downloading, find the downloaded exe file in the Downloads folder and double-click on it.

As soon as you double-click on the exe file, the installation wizard will open. Here, select the language of your choice and click the “Ok” button. I chose the English language.

Now, click the “Next” button to continue.

Here, press the “I Agree” button to agree with Google’s terms. Of course, read before you press the button.

Now, we need to change the install location to the USB drive. So, click the “Browse” button.

Select the USB drive from the browse window and click the “Ok” button.

Now, click the “Install” button.

As soon as you do that, the installer will download the latest Chrome version and copy it to the location you chose earlier.

Once that is done, uncheck the “Run Google Chrome portable” option and click the “Finish” button.

With that, you have downloaded the portable Chrome in Windows. After that, open File Explorer and go to your USB drive. Here, open the “GoogleChromePortable” folder and double-click on the Chrome exe file to open the browser.

Since the browser is installed on the USB drive, all your data is located in the USB drive. You don’t have to worry about Chrome storing sensitive data on the computer. When you are done using the browser, close it and unplug the USB drive.
