How To Disable AI Mode in Chrome Address Bar and New Tab

Learn how to disable the AI Mode button in Chrome’s address bar (omnibar) and the new tab page in simple steps.

With the recent updates, Google added new ‘AI Mode’ shortcuts in the address bar and in the new tab’s search bar. If you use this new mode, this is a great option. However, if you don’t, the “AI Mode” option is nothing more than wasted space and often a distraction with its call-to-action animations and colors. Thankfully, you can easily disable the “AI Mode” option in the address bar (omnibar) and on the new tab page in Chrome. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to do it in simple steps. Let’s get started.

AI Mode in Chrome address bar

Disable “AI Mode” in the Address Bar on Chrome

  1. Open the Start menu by clicking the “Windows” icon on the taskbar.
  2. Search for “Google Chrome” and click “Open“.
  3. Right-click the address bar in the Chrome browser.
  4. Select the “Always show Google AI Mode shortcut” option.
  5. This action disables/hides the “AI Mode” button in the address bar on Chrome.

Note: The “Always show Google AI Mode shortcut” is a toggle option. This means it will enable or disable the “AI Mode” button depending on its current state.
