Backup-vlc-settings-windows-featured

The VLC Media Player lets you convert any MKV file to MP4 with just a few clicks. Here is how to do it in simple steps with pictures.

MKV is one of the most preferred file formats for several video and movie files. One of the main reasons being the file format’s versatility. For instance, you can add multiple audio tracks, subtitle tracks, etc.

However, as good as the MKV format is, the MP4 format enjoys far better compatibility. Not to mention, for the same quality video file, the overall file size of an MP4 file is a bit smaller than MKV. Better compatibility means almost every device can play MP4 format. So, if you want to make sure the media file plays correctly or reduce the file size without compromising the video quality, it is better to convert MKV to MP4. This is especially useful when sharing video files.

One of the lesser-known features of VLC is its ability to convert video files from one format to the other. In fact, you can convert any VLC supported media format to another supported format.
