Don’t want every app resuming on your PC? Here’s how to turn Cross-Device Resume on or off for individual apps in Windows 11.
Quick steps: Open “Settings“, go to “Bluetooth & devices” > “Mobile device“, click “Resume“, and turn off the apps you don’t want to resume.
The cross-device Resume doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. You can pick and choose which app can hand off from your phone to your PC. For example, you might not want WhatsApp prompting you to resume, but you might want Spotify to, because you can continue listening to your favorite music without interruption. Here’s how you can manage which apps can and cannot hand off using the cross-device Resume feature in Windows 11. Before You Start
- Before proceeding, make sure your phone is connected to Phone Link on Windows 11.
Choose Which Apps Can Resume from Your Phone in Windows 11
You can enable or disable cross-device resume per app in Windows 11 using the Settings app. So, to start off, open the Settings app by pressing the “Windows key + I” shortcut. Next, go to the “Bluetooth & device” tab in the sidebar, then click the “Mobile device” option in the right panel.
On this page, you will see your connected phones under the “Mobile devices” section. Here, scroll down and click the “Resume” option under “Related settings”. (This same option is also available in the “Settings” > “Apps” page.)
Now, turn OFF the toggle next to the apps you don’t want to resume, and turn ON the toggle next to the apps you want Windows 11 to resume under the “Control which apps can use Resume” section. For example, since I don’t want WhatsApp to resume, I turned it off.
That is it. Your changes are saved automatically. From now on, the app you turned off won’t resume on PC, while the app you specifically turned ON will keep resuming (after you accept the handoff resume prompt).
