How To Change Touchpad Right-Click Zone Size in Windows 11

On Windows 11, you can change the size of the right-click zone on your trackpad in Windows 11. Here’s how.

By default, on Windows 11, tapping anywhere on your trackpad with two fingers instantly opens the right-click context menu. If your trackpad has buttons, you can also use the right-click button to access the same. Generally, the default two-finger tap to open the context menu works pretty well thanks to the simplicity of the gestures. However, because the gesture is so simple, it is far too common to accidentally open the right-click. For example, while tapping on the keyboard, accidentally touching your trackpad with your wrist at certain angles can sometimes trigger the two-finger tap gesture and open the context menu.

To reduce this accidental behavior, Microsoft introduced a new feature that lets you select the size of the right-click zone. Once selected, two-finger tapping only in that specific zone opens the context menu. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you exactly how to change your trackpad’s or touchpad’s right-click zone in Windows 11. Let’s get started.

Before You Start

  • The option to change the trackpad right-click zone is only available in Windows 11 build 26300.8142 or higher.
