How To Change the Touchpad Zoom Speed in Windows 11

Windows 11 now lets you adjust how quickly content on the screen zooms in and out via Settings. Here’s how.

On Windows 11, you can zoom in and out using a pinch gesture on the touchpad (trackpad). One of the best additions in recent versions of Windows 11 is the ability to change the zoom speed when using the touchpad.

Generally, you either have no control over the touchpad zoom speed or you’d have to depend on the manufacturer’s drivers or third-party software to change this behavior. This gives you inconsistent zoom speed and often makes it harder to use when you need precision zoom.

However, in the recent builds, Microsoft added this option directly to the settings app. That means, just like you can change the cursor speed, you can adjust the touchpad zoom speed using a simple slider. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to do it in simple and easy steps. Let’s get started.

Before You Start

  • To change the touchpad (trackpad) zoom speed, you should be using Windows 11 build 26300.8376 or higher.

Steps to Change Touchpad Zoom Speed in Windows 11

  1. Use “Windows key + I” to open Settings.
  2. Click the “Bluetooth & devices” tab.
  3. Scroll down and click the “Touchpad” option.
  4. Click and expand the “Scroll & zoom” section.
  5. Use the “Zoom speed” slider to change the touchpad zoom speed in Windows 11.

Important note: If you don’t see the “Zoom speed” slider and have confirmed that you are using Windows 11 build 26300.8376 or higher, then that option isn’t available to you yet. You either have to wait for Microsoft to enable this feature or use an insider build and enable the “Touchpad Enhancements” feature flag.

Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)

As you’d always do, press the keyboard shortcut “Windows key + I” to open the Settings app. Once it opens, go to the “Bluetooth & devices” tab on the sidebar. On this page, you will find all your hardware devices, including wired and wireless devices.

In the “Bluetooth & devices” tab, scroll down the right panel and click the “Touchpad” option.

On this page, scroll down and click the “Scroll & zoom” option to expand the section. Next, use the “Zoom speed” slider to adjust the touchpad zoom speed. The slider gives you 10 levels of speed control. For example, to decrease the zoom speed, move the slider to the left. To increase the zoom speed, move the slider to the right.

Important note: If you don’t see the “Zoom speed” slider and have confirmed that you are using Windows 11 build 26300.8376 or higher, then that option isn’t available to you yet.
