If you use Reading mode with Magnifier, you can change the Reading shortcut using the Settings app. Here’s how.
One of the lesser-known features of Magnifier is that when using it, you can toggle a reading mode so that the computer reads aloud what’s on the screen or where your mouse is pointing. This is such a useful feature that is a big help for those who want to improve the overall accessibility of using Windows 11. By default, you can activate the reading mode by clicking the “Reading Mode” icon on the Magnifier toolbar or by pressing the “Ctrl + Alt” keyboard shortcut and then pressing “Enter” simultaneously. While the default shortcut is pretty easy to use, if you want, you can change the Magnifier’s reading mode shortcut by selecting other pre-defined shortcuts in the Settings app. This is particularly helpful if you think the default keyboard shortcut is hard to use. In this quick, easy guide, I will show you how to do it in a few simple steps. Let’s get started.
Steps to Change the Magnifier’s Reading Mode Shortcut in Windows 11
First thing, launch the Settings app in Windows 11 by pressing the “Windows key + I” shortcut. Alternatively, right-click the taskbar’s Start button and select “Settings”. After it opens, click “Accessibility” on the left sidebar and then click “Magnifier” in the right panel.

The above action opens the Magnifier options page in the Settings app. Here, scroll down to the “Reading” section and then choose the shortcut of your choice from the “Reading shortcut“. For example, I’m choosing the “Insert” key as that is unused on my keyboard.

Once you select the shortcut you want, whenever you want to activate the reading mode, simply press the shortcut plus the Enter key. For example, since I selected the “Insert” key, I have to press “Insert + Enter” to start the reading mode.
That’s it. Write down below any questions or comments you have. I’ll respond as quickly as possible.
