This is especially useful for those with high-resolution screens but don’t want to increase the scaling, have poor eyesight, or need comfortable reading and reduced eye strain. The good thing is, just like in Windows 10, Windows 11 also has a built-in option to quickly and easily change the system font size with just a couple of clicks.

What is the Default Font Size in Windows 11?
The default font size in Windows 11 is set to 100%. Rather than using an absolute font size. i.e., the font size in pixels, Windows uses a relative font size. That way, no matter the screen size, resolution, and scaling, Windows can display the fonts as neatly and legibly as possible.
Steps to Change the Font Size in Windows 11
Unlike in the older versions (Windows 7), you don’t have to make any registry edits. Simply changing the accessibility options in the Settings app is enough. Here’s how:
- Open the Windows 11 Settings app with “Windows key + I“.
- Go to the “Accessibility” tab on the sidebar.
- Click the “Text size” option on the main page.
- Use the slider next to “Text size” to change the font size.
- Click “Apply” to set the new system font size.
- With that, you’ve changed the Windows 11 font size.

As with most options in Windows 11, we need to open the Settings app first. To do that, press the “Windows key + I” shortcut or search for “Settings” in the Start menu.
Once the Settings app opens, go to the “Accessibility” tab in the sidebar, then click the “Text size” option in the right panel.
Now, use the slider next to the “Text size” option to change the font size. As you move the slider, you will see an instant preview in the “Text size preview” section. Once you have found the sweet spot for your text size, click the “Apply” button to apply the new font size settings.
As soon as you click the apply button, Windows 11 automatically adjusts the font size across the system.
All applications that respect and use the default Windows font settings will display the new font size.

Just like you can change the text size, you can also restore it to its default using the same accessibility settings. This is helpful if you no longer want to use a custom text size in Windows 11. Here’s how to do it.
- Press “Windows key + I” to open Settings
- Select “Accessibility” on the sidebar.
- Click the “Text size” option on the right page.
- Move the “Text size” slider all the way to the left. i.e., to 100%.
- Click the “Apply“.
- With that, the default Windows 11 font size is restored.
