How To Change BitLocker Password

Is your BitLocker password easy to guess or already compromised? Here is how to change the BitLocker password in just a few steps.

In Windows 10 and 11, BitLocker is enabled on all drives by default and encrypted using your user account password. This feature is called Device Encryption in Windows 11. If you want, you can manually encrypt any drive you want with BitLocker using a strong password. For example, I encrypt my goto USB drives with BitLocker so that no one but me can access the data in them.

No matter how solid or long a password is, it is useless if it is compromised, leaked, or easy to guess. In those situations, you must change the BitLocker password. Otherwise, it is only a matter of time until your data is compromised in one way or another.

To change the BitLocker password, you don’t have to turn off BitLocker and re-enable it. You can use the change password BitLocker option. All it takes is a couple of clicks to change the BitLocker password and protect your data.
