Don’t like the default album cover selected by Windows? Learn how to quickly and easily change the album cover in the Photos app on Windows 11.
Quick steps: Open the Photos app, go to the “Albums” tab on the sidebar, open the Album, select the image you want to set as the album cover, and select the “Set as cover photo” option.
The new Photos app (also called the OneDrive Photos app) has been upgraded in terms of both visuals and functionality. One of the most useful features of this app is the ability to create albums. Once you create an album, the Photos app will automatically select a picture (usually the first one in the list) as the album cover. While this is a good thing, sometimes you may want to change the album cover because you don’t like the current one or want to set a different image as the album cover in the Photos app. Thankfully, it is a pretty simple process. In this quick and easy guide, let me show you the steps to change the album cover of any album in the Photos app in Windows 11. Let’s get started.
Steps to Change Album Cover in Photos App in Windows 11
First, open the Photos app. To do that, press the Start button on the keyboard, search for “Photos“, and click the top result or click the “Open” option in the right panel of the Start menu.
Once the Photos app opens, select the “Albums” option on the sidebar. In the right panel, you will see all your albums, click the album for which you want to change the cover.

Now, in the album, select the photo of your choice and then click the “Set cover photo” option at the top.

Alternatively, you can also right-click the photo and select the “Set cover” option.

As soon as you do that, the selected photo is set as the cover photo for the album.
