How to Autocorrect Spellings in Windows 11 and 10

No matter who you are or how good your typing is, it is common to misspell a few words. When that happens, you typically see a red squiggly line under the misspelled word so that you can be aware of it and correct it when needed. Now, rather than seeing that dreaded red squiggly line, wouldn’t it be nice if Windows could automatically correct the misspelled words? Well, both Windows 10 and Windows 11 have built-in autocorrect functionality. Enabling it will auto-correct misspelled words as you type so that you don’t have to deal with your own spelling mistakes.

In this article, I will show you the simplest ways to enable the ‘autocorrect misspelled words‘ feature in Windows 10 and Windows 11. Let’s get started.

That is it. Close the Settings window and restart your computer to apply the changes. After restarting, Windows 10 will autocorrect your spelling errors.

Wrapping Up — Spelling Autocorrection in Windows

As you can see, enabling the autocorrect functionality on Windows 11 and Windows 10 is fairly easy. Once enabled, your spelling mistakes are autocorrected immediately after you press the space button.

Keep in mind that the autocorrect is not perfect and has a few limitations. It might not work in some applications, it cannot correct short words (such as ‘who’, ‘what’, etc.), and it cannot correct words based on context. However, even with these limitations, the built-in autocorrect functionality is pretty good and works the vast majority of the time. So, keep it enabled, try it out, and see how it works for you. If you don’t like it, you can disable it by simply turning off the “Autocorrect misspelled words” toggle in the Settings window.
