Problems with Windows 10 Sync with Microsoft account? Here’s a simple thing you can do to fix Sync is not available for your account in Windows 10.
To sync settings between all your systems, Windows first syncs them with your Microsoft account. When you log into another system with the same Microsoft account all your settings will be automatically synced and configured. This is a very helpful feature if you have multiple systems. For instance, I have both a desktop and laptop and all the settings are in constant sync and I don’t have to configure mundane settings like wallpapers.
However, under certain circumstances, the Windows Sync might be locked out on your system. When that happens, Windows 10 shows “Sync is not available for your account. Contact your system administrator to resolve this” error message right in the sync settings page within the PC Settings app.
Though the error message itself is cryptic and not that helpful, it is quite easy to fix the issue. So, without further ado, let me show the steps you should follow to fix sync is not available error in Windows 10.
Important: Before following the below steps, make sure that your Microsoft account is active and verified. If your Microsoft account is not verified, you cannot use the Windows 10 Sync functionality. You can verify your account from this page. If you don’t see the “verify” option, continue to the steps below.
Steps to Fix Sync is Not Available for Your Account Problem
To fix the sync not available problem, we need to make a single registry edit. So, before editing, I recommend you backup registry just to be on the safe side.
1. First, open the start menu, search for “Registry Editor” and click on the result. As soon as you click, the Windows Registry Editor will open.
2. After opening the Registry Editor, copy page the below path in the address bar and press Enter. This action will take you to the target registry folder where the value we need to edit exists.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
3. On the right panel, see if you have a value name “NoConnectedUser”. If it exists, then continue from the 5th step. If there is no such value, right-click on the right-panel and select the “New → Dword Value” option.
4. Name the newly created empty value as “NoConnectedUser” and press Enter.
5. Now, double-click on the “NoConnectedUser” value. Select the “Hexadecimal” radio option, type “0” in the Value Data field and click on the “Ok” button to save changes.
6. Finally, close the Registry Editor and reboot Windows.
