Note: Before proceeding with the below steps, back up your registry.

Steps to Fix Missing New Folder Option

First, press Windows key + R to open the Run window. In it, enter regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor.

In the Registry Editor, go to the Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder folder.

On the right panel, right-click on the (Default) folder and select Modify.

Enter Folder in the Value Data field and click OK.

Next, go to the Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers folder.

Right-click on the ContenxtMenuHandlers folder and select New > Key.

Enter the name of the new folder as New.

Next, select the New folder on the left pane, right-click on the (Default) value on the right panel, and select Modify.

Enter {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719} in the Value Data field and click OK.

After that, close the registry editor and restart your computer.

Once you restart, you should see the New > Folder option in the right-click context menu. Additionally, the above steps also fix the new folder button in other places like File Explorer.

And there you have it. It’s that simple to bring back the New Folder option in the context menu and make sure the new folder button works properly in all the other places like the File Explorer, and Open/Save As dialog boxes.
