When in this mode, Windows 11 adjusts power settings and restricts background apps to increase battery life. One such change is the automatic dimming of the keyboard backlight. Most don’t know this, but while the backlight uses only a tiny amount of power, when you are already low on battery, saving every little drop gives that much more time. Of course, if you don’t like this behavior, you can disable it.

- Right-click the taskbar’s Start button.
- Select “Settings” to open it.
- Go to the “System” > “Power & battery” page.
- Click the “Energy saver” option.
- Turn ON the “Lower keyboard brightness when using energy saver” toggle to let Windows 11 lower the keyboard brightness.
- Turn OFF the “Lower keyboard brightness when using energy saver” toggle to stop Windows 11 from lowering the keyboard brightness.
- Close the Settings app.

As always, the first step is to press the “Windows key + I” to open the Settings app. You can also right-click the Start button on the taskbar and select “Settings”. Once it opens, go to the “System” tab on the left sidebar and click the “Power & battery” option on the right panel.
Next, scroll down and click the “Energy saver” option to expand it.
Once the Energy Saver section is expanded, you will see multiple options. Here, do the following:
To enable dimming the keyboard brightness when Energy Saver is enabled: Turn ON the “Lower keyboard brightness when using energy saver” toggle.
