The emergency patch update is out for the Xbox app in Windows 10. Here are the direct links to download KB5004476 offline installer.
Just after the recent patch Tuesday update, Microsoft released another emergency update for three versions of Windows 10. i.e., v21H1, v20H2, and v2004. The emergency patch is mainly targeted towards the Xbox app and Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
Apparently, some users are experiencing app crashes and blocking errors after installing the recent Windows update. Some of the frequent error codes encountered by users are 0x80073D26, 0x8007139F, and 0x00000001. Some games downloaded via the Xbox app show prompts to update the Game Services app via MS Store. When you try to update the Game Services app; it fails to install properly with one of the above error codes and may also show the “Something Unexpected Happened. Reporting this problem will help us understand it better. You can wait a bit and try again or restart your device. That may help.” message.
If you are getting these errors while playing games downloaded via Xbox Game Pass subscription, installing the KB5004476 update will solve the problem.
As always, you can download the update directly from Windows Update. i.e., go to the “Windows Update” page in the Settings app and click the “Check for updates” button.
