Microsoft released the KB5001649 out-of-band update to fix printing problems. Here are the direct links to download KB5001649 offline installer.
For at least the past few weeks, Microsoft is not having a good time with Windows updates. No matter what they do in terms of Windows 10 updates, something is going wrong for some users and causing BSoD errors and other problems. To be more specific, Microsoft first released KB5000802 to fix compatibility with some printers that are causing BSoD errors. However, it did not go well for some users and forced Microsoft to release another update called KB5001567 to fix issues caused by the first update. Again, it did not go well and the printing problems with Type 3 printers still stand. So today, Microsoft released yet another out-of-band update to fix problems caused by the previous updates.
Considering the timing and urgency of this new update, if you have printing problems with Type 3 printers or if you are receiving BSoD errors due to the previous update, installing KB5001649 should fix it. Like always, on all supported or affected systems, the KB5001649 update should be auto-installed thanks to the Windows 10 automatic updates.
If your system is not connected or if the Windows 10 automatic update is not working as it should, you can download the KB5001649 offline installer using the links given below. Once downloaded, you can install it like any other software. Do keep in mind that this update is only applicable to Windows 10 v20H2 and v2004.
