If your system has an Intel CPU with Intel HD Graphics Control Panel installed, you might have seen that the screen rotates when you press Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Keys shortcut. Though not every day, the ability to rotate the screen when needed with a single keyboard shortcut is pretty handy. In general, these shortcuts are pretty hard to press accidentally.
However, if you are like me who uses Windows 10 Virtual Desktops and like to switch between them with keyboard shortcuts, you might’ve noticed that it is pretty easy to accidentally rotate the screen. After all, the shortcut to move between virtual desktops is Ctrl + Win + Arrow Keys.
The worst thing about the accidental screen rotation is that it messes up any snapped Windows.
So, if you don’t like this behavior from Intel Control Panel, thankfully, you can disable the screen rotation shortcuts. Let me show you how.
The below procedure will only work if you have Intel HD Graphics Control Panel software.
Disable Screen Rotation Keyboard Shortcuts
For some reason, the Intel Graphics Control Panel is buried deep and can be hard to find.
Note: If you have Intel HD Graphics tray icon in the taskbar, you can skip the first four steps. Just double-click on it to open the control panel.
1. First, open the PC Settings app by pressing the keyboard shortcut Win + I. In the Settings app, go to “System → Display” page.
2. On the right panel, scroll down and click on the “Advanced Display Settings” link under the Multiple Displays section.
3. In the next page, click on the “Display adopter properties” link.
4. The above action will open another window. Here, go to the “Intel HD Graphics Control Panel” tab. Now, click on the “Graphics Properties” button appearing at the bottom to open the Intel application.
5. Once the Intel application has been opened, click on the “Options and Support” option.
6. Now, select the “Disable” checkbox under Manage Hot Keys section.
7. Finally, click on the “Apply” button to save changes. If you see a confirmation window, click on the “Yes” button to continue.
That is all. You’ve successfully disabled the display rotation keyboard shortcuts in Windows 10.
