You can get rid of or altogether disable the “Let’s finish setting up your device” setup screen in Windows 10 and 11. Here is how to do it.

It mainly forces you to choose between a local account and an online account, go through a bunch of privacy options and unnecessary features, etc. Something like configuring the privacy options is essential, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the overall initial setup experience is not as good as it used to be.

Even after the initial setup, if Windows 10 or Windows 11 thinks you need to configure additional options, it will show the “Let’s finish setting up your device” setup screen from time to time. This is especially true if you have done an in-place upgrade. The problem with this screen is that almost all the recommended features and options are not integral to your overall experience. For example, you don’t have to use OneDrive or subscribe to Office 365 to get the most out of Windows 10 or 11.

Disable “Let’s finish setting up your device” in Windows 10

You can turn off or disable “Let’s finish setting up your device” directly from the Windows 10 Settings app. Here are the steps you should follow.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select the “System” option.
  3. Click on “Notifications & actions” on the sidebar.
  4. Uncheck the “Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of windows” option.
  5. Close the Settings app.
  6. You will no longer see the “Let’s finish setting up your device” screen.

Press the “Start + I” keyboard shortcut to open the Windows 10 Settings app. After opening it, go to the “System -> Notifications & actions” page. On the right panel, uncheck the “Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of windows” checkbox. Next, close the Settings app.

That is it. From now on, Windows 10 will no longer show the “Let’s finish setting up your device” setup screen. Remember that this doesn’t affect other things like future upgrade notifications, general updates, etc.

Disable “Let’s finish setting up your device” in Windows 11

If you are using Windows 11, you can disable the “Let’s finish setting up your device” setup screen via the Settings. Compared to Windows 10, the procedure is different but still easy to follow and remember. Let me show you how to do it in simple and easy steps.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select the “System” option.
  3. Click on “Notifications” on the sidebar.
  4. Uncheck the “Offer suggestions on how I can set up my device” option.
  5. Close the Settings app.
  6. You will no longer see the “Let’s finish setting up your device” screen.

Like in Windows 10, open the Windows 11 Settings app with the “Windows key + I” keyboard shortcut. After opening the Settings app, choose “System” on the sidebar and then click on the “Notifications” option on the main page.

After that, scroll down and uncheck the “Offer suggestions on how I can set up my device” checkbox.

Now, close the Settings app. From now on, you will no longer see the “Let’s finish settings up your device” screen in Windows 11.

Use Registry to Disable “Let’s finish setting up your device”

By modifying the “ScoobeSystemSettingEnable” key, you can disable the “Let’s finish setting up your device” screen from the registry. This method works in Windows10 and Windows 11. Here is how to do it.

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Copy the below path.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UserProfileEngagement
  3. Paste it in the address bar and press Enter.
  4. Double-click on the “ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled” value on the right panel.
  5. Set the value data to “0”
  6. Click “Ok.”
  7. Close the Registry Editor.
  8. You will no longer see the “Let’s finish setting up your device” screen.

Note: If you cannot find the “ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled” value, create one. To do that, right-click on the “UserProfileEngagement” folder, select “New -> DWORD value,” and set the new value name to “ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled”.

That is it. With that, you have successfully disabled the “Let’s finish setting up your device” setup screen in Windows 10.
