Missing desktop shortcuts of your favorite games? Here’s a simple way to create a desktop shortcut for any game in the Epic Games Launcher.
When you install a game in the Epic Games Launcher, it will automatically create a desktop shortcut. However, under certain circumstances Epic Launcher might not create a shortcut or create a corrupted game shortcut. In fact, missing Fornite desktop shortcut is one of the most common issues with the Epic Games Launcher.
When there is no shortcut, you have to manually launch the Epic Store, go to the library and then launch the game. As you can guess, this is not that user friendly. So, if you are missing desktop shortcuts for games like Fortnite, let me show you the steps to create one directly from the Epic Games Launcher.
How do I create a desktop shortcut for Epic Games
These are the steps you should follow to create a desktop shortcut for Epic game titles.
- Open the Start menu.
- Search for “Epic Games Launcher” and open it.
- Go to the “Library” page in the Epic Games Launcher window.
- Find the game you want to create the shortcut for.
- Click on the “Overflow Menu” icon (three horizontal dots).
- Now, select the “Create a shortcut” option from the menu.
As soon as you select the option, the Epic Games Launcher will create the shortcut for that specific game on the desktop. For example, in the case of Fortnite, Epic will create a desktop shortcut for the Fortnite game. In my case, I created the GTA V shortcut.
That is it. It is that simple to create a desktop shortcut for a game in the Epic Games Launcher.
Add Epic Game Titles to Start Menu
Once you have the desktop shortcut for an Epic game title, you can add it to the Start menu list or pin it as a tile. Adding the shortcut to the Start menu is very useful if you want to keep your desktop squeaky clean but want quick access to your games.
Follow the below steps to add Start menu shortcut for Epic game titles.
- First, create the desktop shortcut for the Epic game title.
- Next, press “Windows Key + R” to open the Run window.
- Type “shell:start menu” in the blank field.
- Click on the “Ok” button or press the “Enter” key.
- Now, copy the shortcut to the Start menu folder.
That is it. As soon as you copy the shortcut to the Start menu folder, you will see the Epic game title appear in the Start menu. Sometimes, the game shortcut might not appear instantly in the Start menu. If that happens, either wait a few minutes for Windows to re-index the Start menu folder or sign out and sign in.
If you want to pin the shortcut as a tile, search for the game in the Start menu, right-click on the result and select the “Pin to start” option. Doing so will pin it as a tile.
That is all. I hope that helps. If you are stuck or need some help, comment below and I will try to help as much as possible. If you like this article, check out how to stop Epic Launcher from starting with Windows and how to create desktop shortcuts for Steam titles.
