Connecting the Xbox controller to Windows 11 can greatly improve your gaming experience. While most PC gamers prefer using a keyboard and mouse, some genres, such as platformers, action/adventure, racing, and fighting games, are best enjoyed with a controller. Even certain first-person shooter games, like Halo, have excellent Xbox controller support. On Windows 11, you can connect your Xbox controller wirelessly via Bluetooth in two ways: through the Bluetooth connection notification or via the Settings app. In this tutorial, I will demonstrate both methods to pair and connect an Xbox controller to Windows 11. Let’s get started.
Before You Start
- Your PC or laptop should have Bluetooth. If your device doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth, you can purchase a simple Bluetooth adapter, connect it, and follow the steps.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled. To enable Bluetooth, click the Network/Volume icon on the taskbar and then click on the Bluetooth icon. When turned on, the Bluetooth icon will be colorful instead of grey.
Connect Xbox Controller to Windows 11 Via Bluetooth Notification
