Learn two simple methods to quickly and easily check if your Windows 11 PC supports Miracast for wireless screen mirroring and streaming.
Windows 11 has built-in support for both casting its screen to other devices and acting as a wireless display for them. For this feature to work, your device needs to support Miracast wireless technology. However, not all laptops and PCs support Miracast. For Miracast to work, both your WiFi adapter and graphics card should come with specific hardware and driver support. If you are trying to use the wireless display feature in Windows 11 but it’s not working, the first thing you should do is check if your PC supports Miracast.
Thankfully, it is pretty easy to do. In this guide, I will show you two easy methods to check whether your Windows 11 PC supports Miracast or not. Let’s get started.
Check Miracast Support Using Terminal in Windows 11
- Right-click the “Windows icon” on the taskbar.
- Select the “Terminal (Admin)” option.
- Run the
netsh wlan show driverscommand. - If it says “Yes” next to “Wireless Display Supported“, your PC supports Miracast.
- Otherwise, i.e., if it says “No“, your PC doesn’t support Miracast.

Check Miracast Support Using DirectX Diagnostic Tool
- Press the “Windows key + R” shortcut to open the Run dialog.
- Type “dxdiag” and click “OK” to open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- Under the “System” tab, click the “Save all information” button.
- Go to a folder of your choice and type a name in the “File name” field.
- Click “Save“.
- Find the file you just saved and double-click it to open.
- Once it opens in Notepad, find the “Miracast” heading under “System Information”.
- If you can’t find it, press “Ctrl + F”, type “Miracast”, and press “Enter”.
- If it says “Available“, your PC supports Miracast.
- If it says “Not Available“, your PC does not support Miracast.
Note: If you see “Available, no HDCP” next to “Miracast”, it means that while your PC supports Miracast, it doesn’t support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). That means you cannot stream protected content such as Netflix.
