How To Change the On-Screen Indicators Position in Windows 11

Learn how to change the position of the on-screen indicators, such as volume, brightness, and more, using the Settings app.

By default, whenever you change volume or screen brightness, the on-screen indicator is displayed at the bottom center of your screen. Compared to the older Windows versions, the new on-screen indicators and their default position are a marked improvement.

However, what if you want to change the position of these on-screen indicators? For example, maybe the default bottom-center position is obscuring on-screen content or making it hard to use them with the mouse. In those cases, you can shift the position of the on-screen indicators, such as the volume and brightness sliders. For example, I like to see my on-screen indicators to the top-left of the screen. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to do it in simple steps. Let’s get started.

  1. Right-click on the “Windows” icon on the taskbar.
  2. Select the “Settings” option.
  3. Go to the “System” tab on the sidebar.
  4. Click the “Notification” option.
  5. Select the indicator position of your choice from the “Position of on-screen indicators” dropdown menu.
  6. With that, you’ve changed the position of the on-screen indicators in Windows 11.

On this page, scroll down and select the indicator position of your choice from the “Position of on-screen indicators” dropdown menu. Currently, you only have three positions, bottom center (default), top left, and top center, to choose from. Hopefully, Microsoft will add positions or allow us to set any custom position we want in the future.
