Learn how to change the default save location for screenshots and recordings taken using Snipping Tool.
Snipping Tool is the built-in screenshot and screen recording app for Windows 11 and Windows 10. By default, screenshots and screen recordings taken using it are automatically saved to the “Pictures\Screenshots” and “Videos\Screen Recordings” folders in your home directory (C:\Users\YourUsername). While it is perfectly fine, there might be a time when you want to save the screenshots and recordings to a custom folder of your choice. For example, I have changed the default locations of the screenshots folder and recordings folder in Snipping Tool to a custom folder that is synced with a cloud service. That way, I’ll have access to my screenshots and recording on all my devices.
In this quick and straightforward guide, let me show how to change the default save location for Snipping Tool captures (screenshots & recordings). Let’s get started.
