Learn how to add or remove the ‘Rotate image’ option from the right-click context menu in Windows 11 using Settings.
Quick steps: Open Settings, go to the “Personalization” > “Context menu” page, turn ON or OFF the “Rotate images” toggle.
When you right-click on an image or picture in File Explorer or on the desktop, the context menu shows image rotation options like ‘Rotate image’, ‘Rotate left’, and ‘Rotate right’. Using these options, you can quickly rotate your images in place. i.e., without opening them in an image viewer or image editing tool such as Photoshop. While these options are pretty helpful, if you don’t use them, it just makes your context menu look cluttered. In general, it is better to remove/hide the context menu options you don’t use so that the options you actually use will be easily accessible.

Thankfully, with Windows 11 build 26340.9212 (v26H2) or higher, you can now remove the Rotate Image context menu option using the Settings app. It just takes a couple of clicks. Of course, if and when you need this option, you can just as easily add the ‘Rotate image’ option. In this quick and easy guide, I will show you how to do it. Let’s get started.
Add or Remove ‘Rotate Image’ Option in Context Menu Using Settings
Since this option can be managed from the Settings app, the first obvious step is to open it. So, press the “Windows key + I” to open the Settings app. Once it opens, click the “Personalization” tab in the left sidebar, and then click the “Context menu” option in the right panel.
Now, scroll down a bit to find the “Rotate image” option. Then do the following:
- Turn ON the toggle: Adds or shows the rotate image options in the context menu.
- Turn OFF the toggle: Removes or hides the rotate image options in the context menu.

Finally, close the Settings window, and you are done.
