Learn how to quickly and easily add new words to Voice Access vocabulary in Windows 11 to improve accuracy and personalization of dictation.
Voice Access is one of the lesser-known but very useful accessibility features of Windows 11 that lets you control your PC using specific commands and dictate to write documents, emails, forms, and more.
If you primarily use Voice Access for dictation, you might have noticed that it sometimes fails to recognize uncommon or difficult-to-pronounce words. Or, there might be words related to your profession or language that you want Voice Access to write in a specific way, such as in all capital letters. In those cases, you can add those words to the Voice Access vocabulary list. Once added, it will automatically recognize and transcribe the words as per your instructions. This eliminates the need to manually rewrite or correct the word while you are dictating and improves your voice dictation flow.
In this quick and easy guide, I’ll show you how to add new words to Voice Access vocabulary in Windows 11. Let’s get started.

Detailed Steps (With Screenshots)
First, we must open Voice Access. There are multiple ways to do it, but the easiest is by pressing the shortcut “Ctrl + Windows key + S“. Alternatively, you can also open the Start menu by pressing the Windows key, search for “Voice Access”, and click “Open”.
Once it opens, you will see the Voice Access bar at the top of your screen. Click the “Settings” icon (looks like a gear) on the top right corner of your screen. Next, select the “Add to vocabulary” option.

The above action opens the “Add word to vocabulary” dialog. Here, type the words as you want Voice Access to transcribe. For example, I want Voice Access to type in all capital letters whenever I say certain words. So, I entered them in all capitals. If you have more than one word, either type them on separate lines or separate them with a space.
Once done, click the “Add” button.

That is all. With that, you’ve added new words to Voice Access vocabulary. From now on, whenever you say the newly added word, Voice Access will transcribe it as you typed earlier.
